In 2015, US pork production will surpass beef production for the first time since 1952. With a production increase of 4.6%, over 23.908 billion pounds of pork will be produced this year. In comparison beef production is headed for a 22-year low of 23.901 billion pounds – down 1.7%.
The changes in annual protein production will cause a decrease in pork pricing, which in tandem with consumer demand will make pork an appealing menu choice for operators.
