Best Sandwiches in America

To recognize chefs pushing the boundaries of handheld favorites, Restaurant Hospitality picked the Best Sandwiches in America. Notable winners were the Miso BLT from Red Star Sandwich Shop in Brooklyn, The Sloppy Pig from Front Range Barbecue in Colorado Spring and the Mortadella & N’duja Panini from DiAnoia’s Eatery in Pittsburgh.

The Miso BTL is made with thick-cut slab bacon, cured in miso paste, mirin, rice wine vinegar and sugar, served on a baguette and topped with a fried egg, plum tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise.

The Sloppy Pig begins with a sweet potato bun, that’s piled high with smoked pork butt, kielbasa, bacon, spicy coleslaw, smoked Cheddar cheese, sweet-and-spicy barbecue sauce, pickles and fried onion straws.

The Mortadella & ‘Nduja Panini is created with imported seared thick cut mortadella, ‘nduja mayonnaise, provolone, giardiniera, heirloom tomatoes and a fried egg, in between two slices of crispy ciabatta.
